Vegan Weddings

A Vegan Wedding is really not as frightening as it sounds!
Your wedding day is your special day. If you are a vegan then I think that you are entitled to
serve whatever you wish at your reception.
When guests attend an omnivore’s wedding, it is hardly likely that the couple would have asked
their opinion regarding the menu. Some high-end restaurants or catering halls sometimes allow
choices of meats so that the catering is specific to the guests’ preference. This keeps prevents
unnecessary wastage of food and funds. Most caterers also cater for vegetarians. If you decide
that you are vegan and therefore you want to serve vegan food, then you should.

Vegan food is really delicious and the menus are endless. There are so many vegetables to
choose from – every color and variety can be on the dinner table. Yes, you may miss the taste
of ‘real meat’ but there is nothing wrong with trying something different. Chances are it won’t
kill.
Realistically, if you attended a Hindu wedding you cannot expect to be served beef. Similarly, if
you attended a wedding of the Muslim or Jewish faith, you would not expect to be served pork.

The Bride does not have to go overboard by specifying that the guests use ‘animal friendly
clothing, or that they donate the wedding gift to an animal shelter – that in my opinion is rude
and tacky – and she does not have to impose upon her guests her passion for veganism, but she is
entitled to serve whatever food she prefers at her wedding.
The wedding cake will be no different to what one is accustomed to seeing at weddings. Vegan
cakes are easy to make and the decorating of the cake can be just as fashionable as a non-vegan
cake.
For the decorating of the ceremony or reception hall, the vegan preferences can be carried
through by using animal friendly products. This does not inconvenience the guests.
There are so many different and delightful dishes available nowadays on the internet, that it
would be difficult deciding which dishes not to serve.
No doubt your guests will sit to dine with much trepidation. There will also be curious anxiety as
the meal is served. Don’t be surprised if after your wedding you suddenly find yourself having
several vegan friends!
